Please visit this tremendous web site for chocolate facts!

Even though Fannie May is a household name nowadays, the company had humble origins. This well-known chocolate store first opened its doors in 1920 in Chicago, Illinois, and during almost a century of trading it has developed into one of the most popular sweet shops in the United States.

Fannie May’s talent of blending cocoa, sugar and other premium ingredients in the perfect manner made them so popular they expanded to just below forty-eight stores in only fifteen years. During the second world war food shortages, the company was shut, because they refused to depreciate the quality of any recipes. Don’t forget to select a exquisite presentation box or tin if the chocolates are for a special occasion, it will add something extra. Coffee Berry

by admin on October 5th, 2009

Kona Berry is charged with phenolic acids and therapeutic plant nutrients. These phenolic acids are rich antioxidants. Kona Fruit begins it?s nutrient goodness along the inclines of high altitude mountain side with rich organic soil. Nourished by mineral-rich soil and warmed by intense tropical sunlight, coffee plants produce a profusion of wonderful bright red fruit, known as Coffee Fruit.
Kona Coffee Fruitis so exceptionally rich in anti oxidants because it grows in high altitude, low-latitude regions where the sun?s rays are strongest. As the plants mature, they develop these powerful antioxidants to protect them from damage caused by high doses of the sun?s radiation and the natural byproducts of photosynthesis.
You might be asking what the difference is between a Kona Berry and a Kona Bean. Kona Coffee berries are the outer layer of the coffee fruit and are a rich source of antioxidants. Research reports that 400 mg of concentrate has a radical scavenging activity equal to 9.6 grams of fresh blueberries, 6.2 grams of strawberries, or 4.9 grams of raspberries.
This potent anti-radical power has not been commercially available previously because the fruit rapidly perishes, which is why only the bitter seed has been commercially exploited.
“We have discovered a means of growing, harvesting and processing the whole coffee fruit so that we arrest the development of mycotoxins and thereby render the coffee fruit for human consumption.
Because no one until now has figured out how to do this in a cost effective manner, whole coffee fruit has simply not been available.”
Kona Berry contains five of eight rare and essential sugars called monosaccharides, with research indicating that these are essential for the proper functioning of various biological systems.
Almost half of the dry weight of the concentrate is made up of polysaccharides, such as mannans and arabinoglactan. Conventional roasting destroys these nutrients, so they are not found in traditional brewed coffee.

Coffee Berry is now available in a new energy drink called XOWii Energy Drink.

What Do Glyconutrients, Polysaccharides and Cell Communicators Have in Common?

by admin on May 6th, 2009

Answer: they are one and the same! A rose by a different name…! Much of these Latin and Greek therapeutic terminologies had been going way over my head for a while. But, suddenly the light lit!

Since trying a wonderful product that took away all my chronic fatigue and back pain, and noticing other remarkable results in many people, I went and did some studying. This nutrition was renowned for its high concentration of these cell communicators, including four that are not even known to be in any other food on earth. All I knew was that it produced wonderful results, but what did these “talkative” cells have to do with it, and what did it all mean anyway?

By doing a bit of research I found out that in 1999 a doctor received the Nobel Prize for Medicine for his discoveries in the new science of glyco biology. In fact, a total of four Nobel Prizes have been awarded in the glyco nutrition field! I really sat up when I noticed that these prizes were awarded in the field of Medicine! Was this the same medical profession who has been dead-set against nutritional supplements and the like?

Well, what apparently happened was this forerunner doctor got the ball rolling and others got on the bandwagon. They discovered that of the many types of sugars, only eight of these specific complex natural sugars, apparently lacking especially in the North American diet, are essential for the smooth running of our immune system. These complex glyco-nutrients (the Greek name for sugar nutrients) are like the glue that connects the cells of the different systems in the body. They tell the body to rev up the auto-immune system to fight off any kind of disease that may be present.

Now the medical profession had to sit up and take notice. We still are not hearing our own G.P.’s boasting about the new healthy alternatives on the market to counteract the liver damaging and kidney blocking pharmaceuticals that have been their mainstay. On the whole they’re still trying hard to defend their old-school teachings and habits. However, with so many breakthrough miracles now happening all over the place coupled with the scientific knowledge they now have I know that the world is on the brink of a healing epidemic!

Bye bye bird flue and pandemics. We’re on the verge of healing our present ailments, eradicating diseases, and not only retaining our youthfulness but actually turning back the clock! Many combinations of drinks and products have glutted the market in an effort to take a portion of the polysaccharide pie.

I know I am sticking with unique product – the one that has 12 cell communicators – the other four are over and above what is barely essential, and those 4 have not yet been discovered anywhere. It is not a combination of juices or ingredients – which could counterbalance absorption, digestion, etc. I am ecstatic at what it has done in my body, how it miraculously removed all the homocysteine that clogged my husband’s arteries, as well as brought down and maintained his high blood pressure!

Rolls, Sponge Cakes, and Biscuits: The Dietary Pros and Cons of Snack Foods

by admin on April 8th, 2009

Commercial snack foods. The bane of dieting, right? Yet so inviting. But we are told they are bad for tryglicerides, those are the real problem, aren’t they?. Triglycerides are composed of a molecule of glycerol with three fatty acids attached. (Incidentally, ‘Three Fatty Acids’ would be a cool name for a rap group).

Yet you can look at a website that produces not snack food, but roll machinery and other bakery equipment, for example, and still get your salivary glands going, you can almost smell the warm sponge cake as it rolls out from the machine in a continuous carpet of pure trygliceride wonder.

So are these molecules really to be considered as the Worst Possible Thing to Put in You? What do triglicerides do anyway?

Triglycerides provide the body with calories to burn for energy (about 60% of our energy needs at rest), and body fat acts as a shock absorber and as an insulator. So, basically, when your trygliceride levels are too high, your body stacks them up as extra padding. Nothing strange, really, that’s what the human body’s been doing ever since we were only covered by hair and had to prepare for a long winter. We might have evolved technologically, but our metabolisms still work much the same way they 20,000 years ago.

That doesn’t mean all our ancestors were obese blimps that rivalled with the mammoths. No way. Another factor whose function was precisely that of counterbalancing the accumulation of tryglicerides was in effect. This important factor has recently disappeared from our modern culture, and that is the main cause of the success and prolification of fat.

This factor was called Muscular Movement.

Think of how little we move with respect to, say, three hundred years ago. Not everybody had a horse back then and walking was the most widespread means of transportation. By walking I mean walking for miles, not just down the block for a bagel.

What about the diets back then? Did they have those horrible sounding chemicals we read as surrogates in ’sugar free’ and ‘fat-free’ products? My guess is that if someone mentioned “Aspartame” back then he would be immediately tried for witchcraft. Incidentally, if you check out recent reviews on artificial sweeteners, you might change your opinion on what the Worst Possible Thing to Put in You is.

No, in those good old days dairy products, teeming with fatty molecules, were all the rage, but people moved their muscles, and by doing so they would burn the excess energy.

So, let’s not demonize snack foods, as long as they’re made with healthy ingredients, they’re perfectly all right, just as long as you take note of the extra energy you’re storing and use it, instead of padding yourselves for the winter. A twenty minute jog will do miracles. Any longer and you will actually start burning away some of the older padding. Walk to work, use the stairs and move your muscles, reward yourselves with a snack, It’s actually good for your body to go through the energy burning process, as long as your snacking and your excercise balance each other.

4 Answers To Living Life On Life’s Terms

by admin on March 28th, 2009

1. What supplements do you take?

A multivitamin, Glucosamine-MSM-Chondroitin, Odorless Garlic, Omega 3 Fish Oil, Glutamine, Alpha Lipoic Acid and B Complex – extra B-12.

These are the supplements I am taking for six months. I will reevaluate with blood tests and consultation. I will most likely add more antioxidants and anti-aging supplements due to my age and my Rheumatoid Arthritic condition: i.e. Ginkgo Biloba, CoQ10 and silymarin. When I add three vitamins-I also drop three.

2. What is your favorite healthy snack?

Fruit. I buy a week’s worth of fruit each week at the store. I cut all the fruit up and put into plastic bags in the refrigerator. Each morning I eat a 16 ounce bowl of fruit for breakfast. Anytime I crave sweets- I have fresh fruit instead.
I also love dried fruit (without sugar and unsulphured) between meal snacks. Oh yes, I also love almonds.

3. What do you do to keep up your energy?

Active exercise – my favorite is water aerobics. During the summer I swim 3 to 4 times a week. During the winter months I swim indoors, walk, or use the glider.

4. What advice do you find yourself dispensing most commonly to your family and friends?

Get on your knees and pray each morning-ask for God’s will in your life. Do things for others. Say you are sorry when you are wrong – do not hold grudges. Be honest and say what’s on your mind. Stay in love with family, friends and pets.

Supplements of the Month

Vitamin E 400 d-Alpha

‘Take Your Vitamins’ brand of Vitamin E is a fat soluble antioxidant vitamin that helps to neutralize potentially damaging free radicals in our bodies. Vitamin d-Alpha tocopherol is composed of alpha, beta, gamma and delta vitamins having unique biological effects, with generally declining activity; e.g. delta is far less active than the alpha form.

As a supplement, Vitamin E has a number of health benefits for
the body. Vitamin E is particularly important for the protection of our cell membranes as well as keeping your skin, heart, circulation, nerves, muscles and red blood cells healthy.

Antioxidants such as vitamin E protect your cells against
the effects of dangerous free radicals, potentially damaging
by-products of your body’s metabolism. Free radicals can
cause cell damage that may lead to the development of
cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Vitamin E may also reduce cellular aging, inhibit the potentially damaging effects of the sun, thus inhibit melanoma (skin cancer) cell growth, and aid in the prevention of abnormal blood clotting.

100 IU or more of supplemental vitamin E a day has been shown
to reduce the risk of heart attacks in healthy people. If you have pre-existing coronary artery disease it is recommended you take 800 to 1600 IU a day of Vitamin E. Vitamin E also may help prevent the formation of blood clots, which could lead to a heart attack.

Studies have linked lower rates of heart disease with higher vitamin E intake.

Vitamin B2 has also shown promise in the treatment of migraines.

B3: Niacin

Effectively lowers elevated LDL levels while simultaneously raising levels of the ‘good’ HDL cholesterol.

Vitamin B3 has been used to treat a number of complications arising from diabetes.

May also help maintain proper blood sugar levels in diabetics when use in concert with chromium.

B5 deficiencies have been associated with acne and arthritis

B6: Pyridoxine

Involved in the production of hemoglobin in red blood cells and neurotransmitters like serotonin, which plays a part in regulating our moods and preventing depression.

Involved in energy production in the body, as well as the metabolism of homocysteine, the amino acid that is a risk factor for atherosclerosis.

When used with vitamin B12 and folic acid, it can decrease homocysteine levels.

Related to lower rates of related cardiovascular events including heart attacks and repeated angioplasty.

B12:

Plays an important role in the replication of DNA while supporting growth of the body’s cells.

Vital for the function and maintenance of the nervous system and red blood cells.

Instrumental in the body’s metabolism of protein, fat and carbohydrates.

DHEA – Can DHEA Help Keep You Young?

by admin on March 4th, 2009

DHEA as an anti aging supplement is seen as a powerful aid in the fight against aging and maintaining youth.

It is seen as protecting against many diseases, increasing sexual libido and giving users a feeling of well being and acting as an general all round anti aging supplement.

DHEA What Is It

DHEA is a hormone naturally produced in the human body. It is the sole precursor hormone responsible for the production and regulation of every other steroid and sex hormone in the body.

DHEA is the only hormone that declines with age and declines signal a variety of age related diseases. It is generally seen as a powerful anti-aging treatment.

DHEA is a natural human hormone (a steroid) actually produced from cholesterol by the adrenal glands. DHEA is additionally produced in the gonads (sexual organs), in adipose tissue (fatting tissues) and the brain itself.

DHEA is in fact, the most abundant hormone in the human body. Only in humans is DHEA the dominant steroid hormone. Humans produce DHEA in greater quantity than any other species.

DHEA As Supplement For Sexual Health

DHEA is a general tonic of well being as helps maintain sex hormone levels therefore increasing libido

DHEA Anti aging properties

The famous biochemist Stephen Cherniske has shown that one of the most consistent and devastating aspects of aging is the emergence of the metabolic syndrome, which is also termed Syndrome X.

Decreased insulin sensitivity, free testosterone, and HDL, along with increased LDL, total cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, characterize the metabolic syndrome.

The decline in DHEA secretion contributes to the metabolic syndrome and its related diseases such as heart attack, stroke, and type II diabetes.

Results from the use of DHEA are gradual, and over time, one should not wait for some dramatic change.

The anti-aging properties of DHEA are especially gradual, as is aging itself, and may be noticed over an extended period only.

There are some short-term effects, such as in weight control and anti-depression, but it may also be noted that in addition to dietary supplementation, regular strenuous exercise also naturally raises the DHEA level in the human body.

The use of DHEA as a dietary supplementation is believed to have the following affects:

•It maintains sex hormone levels
•Increases the production of antioxidant enzymes in the liver

•DHEA blocks an enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase (g6pd) which is needed to produce fat tissue and also promotes cancer cell growth

•Relieves stress

•Strengthens the immune system

•Improves mental clarity as people age

•Helps the body burn calories for energy rather than store them as fat

•Declining levels of the hormone DHEA are implicated in Alzheimer’s disease diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, obesity, cancer, atherosclerosis and heart disease and depression

•Increases muscle mass and strength

•Beneficial in increasing feelings of well being and libido and acts as a sex stimulant

DHEA is the subject of intensive and continuous research, but more and more people are now looking at DHEA as one of the key anti aging supplements.
